uFehra Beauty turns pandemic passion of creating makeup into business

When Taylor Reganti found herself with unexpected free time during the start of the pandemic, she decided to try her hand at making her own makeup.

“I’ve been working in the industry with makeup for nine years now, I worked at a couple different retailers and a lot of the artistry and then I kind of had the time to kind of do a deep dive into like the ingredients and more of the chemistry behind it,” explained Reganti.

As she dove into the chemistry behind makeup, she found herself trying more and more recipes, and making new types of products.

“It was pointed out to me that why don’t you try to make it and at least you can use it in your kit, at most you can make products and sell them,” Reganti said.

Her attempts were successful, and now she runs uFehra Beauty, selling her products online and at shows throughout the Niagara Region.

“The main thing is lip products at the moment. So like lip glosses, either sheer like holographic, or full pigment, kind of like a little bit of everything almost,” said Reganti.

In addition to her lip products, uFehra Beauty has sugar scrubs, body butters, and other products to help people pamper themselves, with more products being added all the time.

“I’m kind of delving a little bit more into skin care. It’s a bit more complex, so it’s not like it takes me a lot longer to kind of come up with and test everything,” she added.

As Reganti travels around the region selling her products, she gets the chance to interact with lots of people and share her makeup tips and talents with them, including people who may not have tried products like hers before.

“I get to have the experiences with people that are new to makeup, or people who are transitioning, and makeup is part of that gender euphoria for them. It can be intimidating and scary and it feels like they’re not sure like where they belong in (the makeup world),” added Reganti. “It’s just whatever you think looks great.”

To help make her makeup feel accessible to as many people as possible, Reganti tries to avoid gendered language in her products whenever possible.

She understands that makeup can be intimidating for a lot of people, and wants her products to try and break down that barrier.

“It’s supposed to be creative, it’s supposed to be fun. I think that you can take that away from yourself when you get hung up on ‘what am I supposed to do, how am I supposed to look,’” Reganti said. “You can literally do whatever you want. There’s no rule. Do it, have a good time.”
